Appointed Persons First Aid Certificate 6 Hours (1 day) Achieve an Appointed Persons Certificate to meet HSE requirements Maximum of 12 students
Infection Control 3 Hours

Raise awareness on transmission  and recognition of infections including MRSA and HIV. Signs and symptoms of disease. The application of universal precautions & disposal of sharps

Food Hygiene for Carers 4 Hours (with a short break) Raise awareness of causes of food illnesses and how to improve and maintain food hygiene Maximum of 15 students
Health and Safety for Carers 3 Hours Raise awareness of Health and Safety issues affecting care workers including legislation, fire, abuse, personal safety and hazard awareness Maximum of 15 students
Adult Abuse Awareness 3 Hours Raise awareness of adult abuse issues and provide tools for recognising and handling abuse Maximum of 15 students
Dementia Awareness 3 Hours Raise awareness of and recognise causes of dementia; and provide tools for recognising and handling Dementia and Acute Confusion issues Maximum of 15 students
Palliative Care Awareness 3 Hours Raise awareness on care for the terminally ill and the role of the care team Maximum of 15 students
Mental Health Awareness 3 Hours Raise awareness of common mental health conditions and main holding sections of the Mental Health Act Maximum of 15 students
Paediatric First Aid Certificate 12 Hours (2 days) To achieve lifesaving skills and knowledge to meet the requirements set by the Pre-school Learning Alliance Maximum of 12 students
Baby and child lifesaver 4 Hours Essential lifesaving skills for babies and children Maximum of 15 students
Moving and Handling for Care Workers 6 Hours (1 day)

Covering basic safety awareness; the risks of manual handling; training, and practical assessment for care staff

Disability Awareness 6 Hours Raise awareness of Disability Legislation, provide knowledge on common disabling conditions and practical skills to support disabled people Maximum of 15 students
Principles in care planning and the role of the key worker 4 Hours (with short break) Introduce basic principles in care planning support staff development and introduce the role of the key worker to carers Maximum of 15 students
Handling and administration of medicines awareness 3 Hours Introduce staff to legislation and safety in handling receiving and storing medicines Maximum of 15 students
Handling and administration of medicines 6 Hours Aimed at senior carers; an in-depth analysis of receiving storing administration and disposal of medicines Maximum of 15 students
Communications Workshop 3 Hours Introduction to communication skills developing  verbal skills including paralanguage, active listening and counseling skills. recognising non verbal communications, including body language and presentation Maximum of 15 students
Management of chronic conditions and emergency aid 3 Hours Awareness of common chronic conditions and emergency management of asthma, angina, heart attack, diabetes, epilepsy and sickle cell Maximum of 15 students
Equality and Diversity 3 Hours Raise awareness of legislation, diversity, prejudice, cultural awareness and stereotypes and meet training obligations Maximum of 15 students
Safety with Oxygen 3 Hours Raise awareness of safety issues with Oxygen for Care Assistants Lung Function Fire and Oxygen Oxygen and Cylinder safety Maximum of 15 students
Clinical Observations 3 Hours

Relevant Anatomy and Physiology Taking and recording Temperature, Breathing, Pulse, Blood pressure; Skin Assessment and Pupil Response

AED Automated External Defibrillator

4 Hours

Revise resuscitation and the recovery position and learn how to use a common model of AED designed for use by the public

Requalification

3 Hours Annual Requalification in the use of AED model defibrillators and review CPR and Recovery Position
